The trajectory of Air India’s decline from a five-star rated airline to what it has become today has opened rounds of criticism regarding the debt-laden airlines. Recently, the Government of India invited bids for sale of stake in Air India which failed to attract any investors. The skies have turned grey for Air India. A detailed unbiased qualitative analysis has been conducted to effectively identify the parameters, which the airline needs to focus on to get back on track. The aim of the paper is to recommend a turnaround strategy for Air India to mitigate inefficiencies and revive growth for it to live up to its once treasured reputation of ‘Maharaja Airlines’.
