Sports diplomacy which falls under the category of public diplomacy signifies engagement with the foreign public within the context of realizing policy objectives. This paper seeks to analyze important questions regarding how international sporting events can act as bargaining chips to bolster relations between the countries, and sports as a tool for soft power. Contemporary developments in global politics have laid out the importance of other forms of diplomacy such as economic, cyber and sports diplomacy.  Sports play a significant role in overall development, for instance, a rhetorical sublimation of hostility and a contest for venue struggle where the sport is used as a form of conflict management to unite alienated populations and countries, through shared affection, competitiveness, and games.
