The level of achievement or success of any organisation can be identified through its performance or productivity and it is influenced by number of factors – both internal and external, qualitative and quantitative, physical and financial factors. Even the success of an organisation largely depends upon how efficient the concern is in its activities, effective utilisation of physical resources, functions, plans and programmes. The present paper tries to evaluate the performance of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) by taking into consideration both physical and financial parameters. On analysing the performance, it is found that the yardsticks used include fleet utilisation, staff ratio per schedule, kms per litre of fuel, accident rate, cost per passenger km, traffic revenue per effective km and return on investment.
