This study examines the adoption of e-government (e-Gov) system via self-efficacy, trustworthiness, social influence, effort expectancy, facilitating conditions, and performance expectancy in effecting behavioural intention towards government organizations in Jammu and Kashmir, India. This research utilized unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) model, which has been extended to include self-efficacy and trustworthiness. The model has been evaluated through a survey conducted for e-Gov employees in government organizations. We developed a structural model which has been tested on a sample of 350 employees in government organizations. The results reveal that self-efficacy and trustworthiness has a positive effect on behavioural intention towards the use of e-government services. Findings also indicate that social influence, facilitating conditions, and performance expectancy positively influence behavioural intention. Although, the effect of effort expectancy was found insignificant on behavioural intention. For researchers, the present study reveals the need to effectively refine e-Gov adoption models for use in different contexts. The findings of the present research will assist policy makers in developing e-Gov services by relating the employee’s priorities regarding e-Gov system in various government organizations of Jammu and Kashmir, India.
