India’s outward foreign direct investment (OFDI) has been seen a significant transformation since the liberalization of the 1990s. OFDI from India has experienced substantial growth over the past three decades, reflecting the country’s increasing integration into the global economy. This study analyses recent trends and patterns of Outward Foreign Direct Investment from India. Further the study investigates the casual relationship between OFDI and economic growth of 45 years covering the period from 1980 to 2024 and finds that there is unidirectional relation between OFDI and economic growth. Based on the Granger causality tests, the main findings advocate the growth-led OFDI.
