The research aims to explore the competitive strategy mapping of competency training courses institutions. This research will be carried out in various competency training courses institutions located in Yogyakarta-Indonesia. This study uses primary data collected by surveys that are conducted by interview. The research subjects were owners or managers of competency training courses for large-scale institutions. This research's data analysis method is interpretive by identifying competitive strategies in the institution's competency training courses and identifying obstacles faced. The results show that competitors' development and demands for innovation are obstacles for each institution to develop. Each course institution seeks to anticipate competitors' development by formulating competitive strategies by identifying service needs for competency training. Competency training courses institutions conduct external programs, such as cooperation with external parties. In anticipation of new competition and competitors' development, each institution strives to improve education promotion and quality by providing training for its teaching staff.
