Intellectual property rights play a significant role in innovation, fundraising, and competitiveness in the renewable energy startup eco-system. The paper analyses the level of awareness, importance, and role of IPR such as patents, trademarks, and trade secrets among renewable energy startups in India. It studies how IPR influences investor confidence and what challenges are there when startups use IPR to attract investments. The study, based on primary data collected through surveys and interviews from startup founders and investors, points out the major barriers such as high costs, weak enforcement mechanism, and lack of awareness as contributors to the problem. All these calls for policy changes; financial incentives, and greater awareness programs to help startups put IPR to full strategic action. It would allow easy access to funding for the startups, protect innovations, and help shape India’s future in sustainable energy.
