Yemen is described as one of the poorest country in the region of Middle East and North Africa (MENA), around 50% of its population are spread in rural areas, half of its population depends mainly on agriculture activities, which makes the business environment appropriate for microfinance activities due to their importance in tackling the social, economic and financial challenges as well as social uplifting in the country. This study presents an analytical review about the performance of Microfinance in Yemen in light current event going on and the fragile situation of the economy. The study relied mainly on secondary data collected from the organizations active the field of Microfinance such as Social Fund for Development, Yemen Microfinance Network, and other organizations as well as related sources to get access to the required data for conducting this review. The data was collected for the period from 2011 to 2018. The findings revealed a weakness of performance of MFIs in Yemen and their ability to meet the needs of their customers.
