The proliferation of social media has brought about a myriad of stories, some captivating, yet others deeply troubling. Instances of extreme social media usage leading to tragic outcomes have become more frequent. From a teenager's obsessive quest for the "perfect" selfie resulting in disconnection from reality to individuals succumbing to social media addiction to the point of self-harm, these incidents underscore a pressing question: "How much is too much on social media?" This paper delves into the phenomenon of social media overdose, exploring its origins, manifestations, and impacts on individuals' lives. With the world transitioning to a "new normal" where virtual interactions dominate, social media has evolved from a mere pastime to a dominant force shaping human behavior. The escalating addiction to constant online engagement, coupled with its detrimental effects on mental health and social interactions, necessitates a critical examination of our relationship with social media.
