Microfinance is to empower the poor people by expanding the opportunities for participation in income generating activities and economic activities aimed at removing economic and cultural factors coming in the way of their empowerment. Non-Governmental Organisations play an important role in empowering vulnerable women by organizing them into Self-Help Groups and developing different capabilities in the women. NGOs promote SHGs and inculcate saving and thrift habits among their beneficiaries. Using descriptive and analytical research design, along with both primary and secondary data sources, the study explores the noticeable changes in the economic status and empowerment levels of microfinance beneficiaries. This article, an attempt is made to evaluate economic profile of the respondents and the impact of microfinance on economic empowerment of beneficiaries joined in NGOs. For the purpose of the study a field survey method was employed and data collected with the help of a structured questionnaire from sample respondents.
