Potato cultivation and marketing are vital to India’s agricultural economy, especially for smallholder farmers who rely on it. Despite its economic and nutritional importance, potato production is hampered by supply chain inefficiencies from input access to post-harvest handling and market linkages. Potato growers’ experiences with seed quality, irrigation, labour availability, transportation infrastructure, marketing methods, pesticide control, and institutional assistance are examined in this study. This study analyse the experiences of farmers cultivating potato in six districts of Uttar Pradesh. The data was collected from 430 respondents using a structured questionnaire which was analysed by descriptive statistics, visual exploratory data analysis (VEDA), One-way ANOVA and post-hoc test. This study offers new insights to academician and policymakers working to improve accessibility and optimise resource allocation in potato farming. Policymakers, agribusiness stakeholders, and rural development practitioners can use the findings to construct potato value chain interventions that improve efficiency, equity, and sustainability.
