Many countries of the world have exhibited a fair deal of economic growth with tertiary and secondary sector coming to play a significant role in the growth and industrialisation. At the same time, countries have come together to deliberate and set up a common legal framework to see forests grow to contribute to primary sector and also generate carbon sinks. India too has been aggressive in this pursuit. Therefore, the present study undertakes an analytical study of forests parameters of the state of Madhya Pradesh and its districts to discuss its potentials as carbon sink based on secondary data that has been compiled from various Indian state forest reports from 2009 to 2019.
